Want a trumpet in your pocket? There’s an app for that.
Puff on a pretend cigar? There’s an app for that. See your friends nude? There’s a drug for that ~ and an app. But what if you want to simply express some feelings with Victorian images juxtaposed with anachronistic slang? Thankfully, there’s a card for that. Lots of deliciously fun letterpress cards from Oddball Press, a tiny paper greetings and goods outfit in Cleveland. Turning to a centuries-old process of printing with moveable type and away from the modern fumblings of android technology, the Oddball folks relish the romp and circumstance that comes from marrying contemporary wordplay with detailed, hand-pressed shadow drawings of their country’s forefathers and mothers. Whatever the occasion, there is a clever and beautifully produced card to send someone special (or not) via snail mail that is solidly worth the ever-rising cost of the first class stamp. Want a poetic turkey this Thanksgiving? While we wait for Tom T. to download the Trippo Voice Translator app on his iPhone and spill his heart, there’s thankfully an Oddball card for that, too.
